EXCLUSIVE: Gunmen abduct two in Ondo community, police launch manhunt

Two residents, identified simply as Mr. Kolade and Mrs. Olotutu, have been kidnapped by suspected gunmen in Upenmen, Owo LGA of Ondo State.
A source familiar with the development said, “the kidnappers are demanding N50m for ransom, a development which has thrown the family into tension.
Speaking with Western Post, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, disclosed that the abduction was reported on April 21, 2026.
He said, “On 21st April 2026, at about 1930hrs, a distress call was received reporting the abduction of two persons, Mr. Kolade and Mrs. Olotutu in Ipeme.”
“Upon receiving the information, operatives of the command alongside local forest guards mobilized to the scene. On arrival, a white Land Rover Jeep belonging to the victims was found abandoned.”
“A bush combing operation was immediately initiated, during which the mobile phone and handbag of Mrs. Olotutu were recovered.”
“Concerted efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the victims unhurt, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered deployment of additional security apparatus towards the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime as demonstrated always.”
The police spokesperson further assured residents that efforts are ongoing to curb the surge in kidnapping across the state.
