‘I was not consulted’ — Moghalu rejects Atiku’s 2027 campaign team

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has denied being a member of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s policy team for the 2027 presidential election.

Moghalu said he was surprised to see his name listed among members of Atiku’s policy team by the Atiku Abubakar campaign and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement, Moghalu said he was neither consulted nor gave consent for his name to be published as a member of the team.

“For the record, I was not consulted and did not give my consent to my name being published as a member of the ADC candidate’s policy team,” he said.

He also stressed that he was not a member of Atiku’s policy team, either formally or informally, and had not served in any advisory capacity to the former Vice-President.

Moghalu said he quit partisan politics in Nigeria in 2022 and had maintained his non-partisan position in the country’s affairs.

“I am not a member or sympathizer of any political party in Nigeria,” he said.

He explained that his current engagements included serving as President of IGETAfrica, a non-partisan public policy think tank and executive education academy, as well as Chief Executive Officer of Sogato Strategies, a geopolitical risk and regulatory strategy advisory firm.

Moghalu said his commitment to Nigeria’s development did not require partisan political alignment.
