NAF reaffirms commitment to troops’ welfare, operational readiness

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) dedication to the welfare and operational efficiency of its personnel. He made this known on March 31, 2025, during the 2025 Sallah Luncheon with troops of the Air Component, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in Katsina State.

Represented by the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Usman Kandi Abdullahi, the CAS commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism in safeguarding the nation. He assured them that their sacrifices would not go unrecognized, highlighting their role in air interdiction missions and precision strikes that have weakened adversary capabilities.

Acknowledging the operational challenges, Air Marshal Abubakar urged the troops to remain steadfast in their mission to restore normalcy. “We must not allow obstacles to deter us. Our mandate is clear, and we will press forward with determination until total victory is achieved,” he said. He also paid tribute to fallen heroes, assuring that their sacrifices would always be honored.

The CAS expressed gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support of the NAF. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Defence, Minister of State for Defence, and Chief of Defence Staff in strengthening NAF’s operational capacity. Additionally, he commended Katsina State Governor Malam Umaru Dikko Radda for his collaboration in enhancing security efforts.

He further recognized the contributions of the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, as well as the Nigerian Army, other security agencies, and host communities in ensuring mission success.

In his welcome address, the Air Component Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Air Commodore OI Jibia, described the Sallah Luncheon as an important morale-boosting event for frontline troops. He noted that the gathering allowed the CAS and other dignitaries to celebrate Eid-al-Kabir with personnel, particularly Muslim faithful serving in the theatre.

Air Commodore Jibia commended the troops for their dedication and sacrifices, emphasizing their critical role in national security. “Your valour, exceptional dedication, and selfless service embody the true spirit of the Nigerian Air Force. We owe the Service and the nation our unwavering commitment to do even more,” he stated.

The event concluded with camaraderie and renewed determination among the troops to sustain efforts in combating insecurity.
