Nasarawa, Plateau United renew rivalry in Federation Cup quarter-finals

Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, will come alive on Thursday as Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) rivals Nasarawa United and Plateau United clash in one of the quarter-final matches of the 2026 President Federation Cup.

The North-Central derby is the standout fixture among the quarter-final pairings released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Sunday.

Nasarawa United booked their place in the last eight after defeating Rivers United 5-3 on penalties following a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time in the Round of 16. The Solid Miners will be aiming to overcome their regional rivals and secure a place in the semi-finals.

Plateau United, meanwhile, advanced to the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Basira FC and will be eager to continue their impressive run in the competition.

In other quarter-final fixtures, Wikki Tourists will face Flight FC in Jos, Sokoto United will take on El-Kanemi Warriors in Kano, while Ikorodu City, who stunned Enyimba in the Round of 16, will battle Barau FC in Awka.

All four quarter-final matches are scheduled to be played on Thursday, with kick-off set for 4 p.m.
