Oladele, running mate join Sowore’s AAC after SDP exit

Oyo State politician, Chief Saheed Oladele, has joined the African Action Congress alongside his running mate, Damola Jaiye, following his resignation from the Social Democratic Party.

His defection to the AAC was announced in a statement issued by the Saheed Oladele Media Office in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The statement said Oladele formally resigned from the SDP on September 16 before deciding to join the AAC.

According to his media office, Oladele’s decision was driven by his determination to address what he described as modern slavery, poverty, educational retrogression, poor development at the local government level and the unnecessary mortgaging of Oyo State’s future.

The statement said Oladele was attracted to the AAC because of what his team described as the party’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, its “Take It Back” campaign and its advocacy for good governance and human rights.

“The idea of joining the African Action Congress was borne out of his love for good governance and the human rights culture championed by the leader of the AAC, Comrade Omoyele Sowore,” the statement said.

Oladele’s media office also described the AAC as a platform without the factions and court cases it associated with other political parties, saying this made it suitable for candidates seeking to contest elections. It urged residents of Oyo State to remain confident in the political direction adopted by Oladele and his team.

The office further called for greater youth participation in politics and urged Oladele’s supporters and residents of the state to join the AAC, describing its members as youths involved in campaigns for the rights of Nigerians and accountability in governance.
