Oluyede accuses Governor Oyebanji of poor performance, says residents unhappy

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, on Sunday accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration of failing to address the needs of residents, alleging that teachers, traders, civil servants and traditional rulers were dissatisfied with the state of affairs.

Oluyede made the remarks during a campaign rally in Odo Ado, Ado-Ekiti, where he urged voters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress in the June 20 governorship election.

According to him, the prevailing economic hardship in the state reflects the inability of the current administration to improve the welfare of the people, despite available resources.

“This Biodun Oyebanji government does not have your interest at heart. Teachers are crying. Market traders are not happy. Civil servants are lamenting. Even our monarchs are sad. Who then are the people enjoying this government?” he said.

The PDP candidate called on eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the election, stressing that the ballot remained the most effective tool for political change.

He promised that a PDP administration would focus on job creation, quality education, accessible healthcare, agricultural development and economic empowerment aimed at improving living standards across the state.

Earlier, during a visit to the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, Oluyede said his ambition was driven by a desire to accelerate development in Ekiti, adding that agriculture would receive priority attention under his government.

The monarch, while receiving the PDP delegation, called for peace and unity among political actors and residents, expressing hope that the election would reflect the will of the people and contribute to the continued progress of the state.
