Ondo LG chair vows crackdown on criminal activities amid rising insecurity

The Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mohammed Mutiu Olawale, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities threatening peace and security in the council area.

Olawale made the pledge during a meeting of the Security and Intelligence Committee held at the local government secretariat, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

The meeting brought together heads of security agencies operating within the council to review the security situation and develop strategies to address emerging threats facing residents.

Speaking at the meeting, the chairman expressed concern over the growing cases of drug abuse, describing the trend as a major contributor to insecurity and social unrest in many communities.

He stressed the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security agencies, and closer engagement with traditional leaders to curb criminal activities.

Olawale said members of the committee agreed that security must remain a priority, noting that proactive measures were necessary to protect lives and property across the LGA.

He warned that his administration would not tolerate kidnapping, banditry, or any other form of criminality capable of disrupting peaceful coexistence in the area.

The chairman also assured residents that the council would continue to work with security agencies and other stakeholders to maintain peace and ensure the safety of communities in Akoko North-East.
