A 40-year-old phone engineer, Irebamide Kazeem, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court for allegedly withdrawing N1.543 million from another person’s bank account without authorisation.

Police prosecutor Oniyere Taiwo told the court that Kazeem allegedly acted in concert with other persons still at large to unlawfully access the account and withdraw the money without the owner’s consent.

Taiwo said the alleged offence occurred at about 10 a.m. on July 9, 2026, at Ilaramokin, within the jurisdiction of the court.

The prosecutor revealed that Kazeem was traced through tracking analysis following the alleged transaction and was eventually located and arrested in Oyo State.

Kazeem was arraigned on two counts bordering on conspiracy and fraudulent withdrawal of money, offences the prosecution said contravened sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to both counts when they were read to him, after which the prosecution requested an adjournment to enable it to present three witnesses for trial.

However, defence counsel G.O. Bernard urged the court to grant Kazeem bail on liberal terms, while the prosecution opposed the application.

Ruling, the chief magistrate adjourned the case to a later date for further proceedings on the bail application and preparations for trial.
