Osun 2026: Adeleke charges electorate to defend their votes

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to vote and defend their votes in the August 15 governorship election, saying no force can deny them their democratic rights.

Adeleke gave the charge on Friday while canvassing support for his re-election at Ipetu-Ijesa and Ijebu-Jesa, where he was accompanied by his cousin, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and other leaders of the Imole Campaign Council.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, urged voters to demonstrate courage and determination in exercising their constitutional right to vote.

While re-echoing Davido’s call on residents to vote and defend their votes, Adeleke said free and fair elections remained the inalienable right of the people.

In his remarks, the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa, Oba Adeleke Oke, commended the governor for what he described as his extraordinary performance in the last four years and assured the campaign team of the support of his people.

The monarch also held a victory prayer session, during which interfaith prayers were offered for the triumph of the governor over his opponents.

At the campaign rallies in Ipetu-Ijesa and Ijebu-Jesa, Adeleke said, “Your security is assured. Your safety is guaranteed. Mobilise your relatives and friends. Vote for good governance and more dividends of democracy.

“Ijesa people, Osun people cannot be scared. We are people of courage. Vote and defend your votes”.
