Osun 2026: APM sets December 13 for governorship primary

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has scheduled its governorship primary for 13 December 2025, ahead of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.

In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Adewale Adebayo, it was disclosed that six aspirants are currently vying for the party’s ticket. He emphasised that the party is committed to democratic principles, assuring all aspirants of a transparent and fair process.

Adebayo expressed confidence that whoever emerges on 13 December will defeat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, noting that the people are weary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and even the African Democratic Congress (ADC), part of whose leadership includes former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

According to him, PDP, APC, and ADC have proven unable to rescue the state from its present maladministration.

“We are confident that whoever emerges as our flag bearer will win the governorship seat. We will defeat the incumbent governor because our membership strength is largely youth-based,” he said.

The APM chairman cautioned all aspirants and supporters against campaigns of calumny or hatred while seeking support ahead of the primary election.

Adebayo also stated that the party’s doors are open to residents and members dissatisfied with APC, PDP, and ADC, encouraging them to join APM so that together they can elevate Osun State to an enviable position among the country’s states.

He further urged party leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts, targeting both youths and the elderly.
