Osun 2026: Hausa community backs Oyebamiji’s governorship aspiration

Leaders of the Hausa community across Osun State have declared support for the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The endorsement was made during a meeting held in Sabo, Osogbo, where 35 Sarkin Hausas drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state pledged their support for Oyebamiji’s candidature.

Speaking at the gathering, the Sarkin Hausa of Osun State, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Gomina, said members of the community were persuaded by Oyebamiji’s competence and his plans for the state.

He also called for greater inclusion of the Hausa community in appointments, employment opportunities and the provision of social amenities.

The engagement with the Hausa community was led by former First Lady of Osun State, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, accompanied by Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji and Princess Abimbola Adereti.

Addressing the gathering, Oyetola pointed to Oyebamiji’s performance at the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), as Commissioner for Finance, and at the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) as evidence of his capacity to govern the state.

Also speaking, Oyebamiji promised inclusive governance, youth empowerment and improved amenities for Hausa communities across the state.

The delegation also visited Sabo Market and paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Grand Imam of Sumuratul Mumineen, Alhaji Lateef Owolabi.
