Osun 2026: Oyebamiji will maximise increased federal allocations for development — Basiru

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has said the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, would maximise the increased federal allocations to the state to accelerate development if elected governor.

Speaking at the APC campaign rally in Ila Federal Constituency on Monday, Basiru said allocations from the Federation Account had risen significantly, adding that the Osun State Government had also acknowledged receiving higher revenues.

He said the APC chose Oyebamiji for the August 15 governorship election because of his experience in governance, business and economic management, expressing confidence that he would channel the increased funds into infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare and security.

“We are endorsing Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji because we believe he can do better than this present government by taking advantage of the increased funds released to Osun. He is knowledgeable about business, governance and the economy, which will benefit us all, especially our children,” Basiru said.

He added that an APC administration under Oyebamiji would prioritise workers’ welfare, support farmers, address the shortage of teachers in public schools and improve the state’s healthcare sector.

Addressing supporters, Oyebamiji pledged to complete abandoned road projects, especially those linking farming communities to major markets, to ease the transportation of agricultural produce.

“I had a conversation with the contractor that on August 16, if I am elected governor, work will resume on August 28. These are not empty promises. We will deliver on them by the grace of God,” Oyebamiji said.

The Orangun of Ila-Orangun, Oba Abdul Wahab Olukayode Oyedotun, also offered prayers for Oyebamiji and wished him success in the August 15 governorship election.
