Osun 2026: Oyebamiji promises to settle Iwo-Oyo boundary dispute, rehabilitate roads

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, on Thursday pledged to permanently resolve the lingering boundary dispute between Iwo and neighbouring Oyo State if elected governor.

Oyebamiji, who spoke at the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, during the party’s campaign rally in Iwo, said the boundary issue had remained a major challenge for the area and assured residents that his administration would find a lasting solution.

The APC candidate also promised to complete ongoing road projects in the town and rehabilitate access and link roads.

Oyebamiji said owners of properties demolished during the projects would receive fair and adequate compensation.

He alleged that the compensation already paid to some affected property owners was inadequate and assured the traditional ruler and residents that his administration would not neglect their welfare or entitlements.

He urged residents to support the APC in the August 15 governorship election, arguing that the ruling Accord Party had failed to give adequate attention to Iwo during its years in office and only remembered the town because of the approaching election.

In his remarks, the Oluwo of Iwo said the APC candidate had come to present his plans to the people and expressed hope that God would grant his aspirations.

“The APC candidate is here today to tell my people what he wants to do for them, and he has promised to do better. My people have listened to him, and I have blessed him in the name of God Almighty. Everything is left to God Almighty, and I believe He will answer his prayers,” he said.
