Osun 2026: Oyebamiji’s administration will deliver community infrastructure, says Basiru

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has assured residents that a Bola Oyebamiji administration would deliver community infrastructure projects across Osun State if elected governor, saying development would be driven by the specific needs of each community.

Basiru gave the assurance on Friday during the APC governorship campaign rally in Ifon, where he canvassed support for the party’s candidate ahead of the Aug. 15 governorship election. The campaign train later moved to Erin and Ilobu.

He criticised the Ademola Adeleke-led administration over what he described as the lack of visible community infrastructure despite increased federal allocations under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, federal allocations to states rose from N586 billion in April 2023 to N2.2 trillion in April 2026, N2.3 trillion in May and N2.7 trillion in June, but had not translated into meaningful grassroots development in Osun.

“There is something called community infrastructure, and that is lacking in the present administration in Osun State. We have 332 wards and several communities. So, where are the infrastructures in these communities from the over N2 trillion?” Basiru queried.

He said an APC government would also address the shortage of teachers in the state by recruiting about 10,000 teachers to strengthen public education and reduce unemployment.

Also speaking, Oyebamiji pledged to deliver good governance across towns and communities without discrimination, saying his administration would prioritise education, healthcare, agriculture, the microeconomy and infrastructure.

He urged residents to support the APC in the governorship election, assuring them of all-round development and an improved business environment for indigenes and residents regardless of political affiliation.
