Osun Assembly passes integrated transport, park management bill

The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Bill, 2026, into law following its third reading during plenary.
The passage came after lawmakers considered the bill, which had earlier scaled its second reading, with extensive deliberations on the need for a structured framework to manage motor parks, garages, traffic and transport-related activities across the state.
Sponsored by the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, the legislation seeks to establish a comprehensive management system for the state’s transport sector, particularly in motor park administration, traffic management and revenue collection.
During the earlier debate on the bill, Ibrahim said the proposed legislation would help regulate revenue from motor parks, block leakages in the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) and ensure a more accountable system for collecting and managing transport-related revenues.
The legislation also provides for the digitalisation of the ticketing system and a more organised structure for the operation of motor parks across the state.
It further seeks to curb thuggery, violence, extortion and other unlawful activities associated with the operation of motor parks and garages, while promoting order and safety within the facilities.
Following the completion of the legislative processes and consideration of the bill’s provisions, the Assembly proceeded to its third reading and passed it into law.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, said the final copy of the law would be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent, after which the Assembly adjourned its legislative activities.
