Osun PDP calls for arrest of suspect in Boripe attacks, commends police

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, whom it identified as the alleged ringleader of the attackers responsible for the killing of its members in Boripe Local Government Area of the state.
The party, in a statement signed by its chairman, Sunday Bisi, on Thursday, said Oyewale was clearly named as a suspect in a petition already submitted to the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that justice would only be served when all those involved in the gruesome killings are brought to book without exception.
Bisi urged the authorities and operatives of the Zone XI Police Command to intensify their investigation and ensure that no suspect is shielded, noting that decisive action would further strengthen public confidence in the Police Force and deter political violence.
The party, however, acknowledged the efforts of the Zone XI Command so far in responding to the petition and handling the investigation, calling on the police to sustain professionalism and commitment until all those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.
The PDP also expressed sympathy with a police officer reportedly injured while attempting to arrest some of the suspects, commending the bravery and sacrifice of officers involved in the operation and wishing the injured officer a speedy recovery.
Reiterating his position that no political ambition is worth the blood of innocent citizens, Bisi stressed that anyone found culpable in the killings must face the full weight of the law, irrespective of political affiliation or status.
He emphasized that a thorough, impartial, and transparent handling of this matter will help sustain the relative peace currently enjoyed in Osun State, especially under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has consistently promoted peace, tolerance, and the rule of law.
The PDP chairman said the party remains committed to justice for the victims and will continue to engage relevant authorities constructively in the interest of peace and constitutional democracy.
