Oyebamiji urges Christians to embrace politics, promises religious equality

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has urged Christians to actively participate in politics and governance, describing politics as a legitimate avenue for promoting justice, equity, peace and development.

Speaking during a Sunday service at Winners’ Chapel, Oyebamiji encouraged Christians to participate in the democratic process by voting, offering constructive ideas, praying for leaders and, where called, seeking elective or appointive offices.

He said democracy thrives when voters make informed decisions and demand accountability from public office holders.

“As citizens, we all have a responsibility to elect leaders based on competence, integrity, character, vision and capacity to serve—not on sentiment, ethnicity or religious affiliation alone,” he said.

He added that the responsibility of citizens does not end on election day, stressing that elected officials must be held accountable through public scrutiny, transparency and responsible use of public resources.

Oyebamiji also assured the congregation that, although he is a Muslim, he would govern in line with the Nigerian Constitution if elected governor, promising fairness, justice and equal opportunities for all residents regardless of their religious affiliation.

He pledged to uphold religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance, saying his administration would work with faith-based organisations, traditional institutions, civil society and the private sector to develop the state.

The APC candidate also appealed for prayers for peaceful elections, expressing confidence that collective efforts would help build a prosperous, secure and united Osun State.
