Oyo ADC governorship candidate Adegoke shares boiled corn with supporters

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Taofeek Adegoke, has stirred reactions after a video of him distributing boiled corn to supporters by the roadside went viral on social media.

The video, which surfaced on Tuesday, showed Adegoke standing beside a pot of boiled corn and personally serving supporters who had gathered around him during the outing.

Many of the supporters stretched out their hands to receive the corn directly from the ADC candidate, while others cheered and chanted slogans in his support.

As the distribution continued, several supporters hailed Adegoke as “Mr. Governor” and insisted on receiving the corn from him personally, describing the gesture as a blessing.

The video quickly attracted widespread attention online, with social media users expressing mixed reactions to the development.

While some users praised the governorship candidate for his humility and direct engagement with supporters, others questioned the motive behind the public display.

Some commentators noted that such gestures are common during election campaigns, as politicians often seek to identify with ordinary citizens through symbolic acts and face-to-face interactions.

Public displays of humility have become a familiar feature of electioneering in Nigeria, with candidates frequently visiting markets, eating at roadside food stalls, riding commercial motorcycles and participating in community activities to connect with voters.
