The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three teenage girls in connection with an alleged kidnap threat in Ikoyi-Ile, Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were identified as Fathia Nurudeen, 17; Taiwo Fatai, 17; and Munirat Saliu, 16, according to a statement issued on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Olayinka Ayanlade.

Ayanlade said the arrest followed a report by one Islamiat Omowumi, a resident of Ikoyi-Ile, who complained that she received a threatening phone call from a private number on Friday, January 9, 2026.

According to the police, the caller threatened to kidnap Omowumi and demanded human parts, claiming she was being targeted because she is a meat seller in the community.

The caller also allegedly demanded a ransom of N10 million and warned of severe consequences should the demand not be met, causing fear and panic.
Following the report, detectives of the command immediately launched intelligence-led investigations, which led to the swift arrest of the three suspects.

The police spokesperson said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to making the threatening call but claimed it was intended as a prank.

Ayanlade added that a small Itel mobile phone allegedly used in making the call was recovered, while the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, warning the public especially youths against acts capable of causing fear.
