Police rescue two as suspected kidnappers kill two others in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two victims from suspected kidnappers in Akure.

The victims were said to have been attacked at Igushin area via Ala, sparking fear among residents of the community.

Police sources disclosed that the victims were rescued during a swift operation by security operatives.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, condemned the attack, describing it as a senseless act of violence.

He further revealed that although the command was able to rescue two of the victims, however, two persons were lost in the process.

Jimoh said, “The Ondo State Police Command strongly condemns the heinous violent incident at Igushin via Ala, Akure, which led to the tragic loss of two innocent lives. While two victims were successfully rescued through a swift and coordinated operation, the Command expresses deep sorrow over the unfortunate deaths recorded.”

The police spokesperson went on to assure residents of the renewed presence of adequate security measures, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Residents were equally urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information when and where necessary.
