President Tinubu mourns Margaret Olabisi Agbaje, hails legacy

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to Jimi and Segun Agbaje, as well as the entire Agbaje family, following the passing of their mother, Margaret Olabisi Agbaje, a renowned educator and community leader.
Mrs. Agbaje, a former President of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) in the Lagos Ecclesiastical Province, passed away peacefully on March 5. The president joined friends, associates, and the Catholic community in mourning her loss, recognizing her immense contributions to education and society.
Throughout her career, she played a pivotal role in shaping young minds, teaching mathematics at Holy Child College, Lagos (1953–1959), serving at St. Joseph’s Teacher Training College, Surulere (1960–1971), and leading as Headmistress of St. Catherine’s Model School, Surulere (1971–1982).
President Tinubu praised her dedication to teaching and discipline, highlighting her lasting influence on students who have excelled in various fields.
“Mama Agbaje’s life was a testament to kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication to education. For her, the greatest fulfillment was seeing her students triumph,” the president said in a statement on Sunday.
Beyond education, Mrs. Agbaje was a pillar of strength in the Catholic community, serving in key leadership roles and making a lasting impact through her faith and service.
President Tinubu urged the Agbaje family to take comfort in their faith and the enduring legacy of their matriarch. He offered prayers for her peaceful repose, stating, “May her goodness be a lasting memory to all whose lives she enriched.”
