Rudeboy responds after Mr P accuses late mother of mistreating wife

Afropop musician Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has reacted to allegations by his twin brother, Peter Okoye (Mr P), that their late mother, Josephine Okoye, and other members of the family mistreated his wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye.

Rudeboy broke his silence on Friday with a brief post on social media, writing, “Unfortunately, you’re not here to defend yourself. Continue resting, Mum.” Though he did not mention his brother or address the allegations directly, many interpreted the message as a defence of their late mother.

His reaction came a day after Mr P released the eighth episode of his tell-all video series on the long-running feud within the Okoye family.

In the episode, Mr P recalled an incident he said happened shortly after the birth of his first son, when their mother visited his home in Omole, Lagos. According to him, she asked to see Lola without the baby, prompting him to tell his wife the house had just been fumigated so she would come alone.

Mr P said a family meeting was later held in the master bedroom, attended by their mother, brothers Jude, Paul and Tony, as well as some pastors. He claimed that neither he nor Lola was offered a seat and that they ended up sitting on the floor.

He further alleged that their mother told Lola the Okoye family had decided she should leave him. He also accused their elder brother, Jude, of making a derogatory remark about their infant son, an incident he said left Lola in tears before she was asked to leave the house.

The singer also claimed that Jude and Rudeboy opposed Lola’s pregnancy and circulated an anonymous email questioning whether he was the father of the child. According to him, their mother later accepted that the child was his and asked his brothers to apologise, but they never did before her death.

Until Friday’s post, Rudeboy had largely stayed away from the public exchanges over the family’s prolonged dispute.
