Sanwo-Olu pledges accountability, transparency in implementation of $500m HOPE-GOV programme

Sanwo-Olu reaffirms commitment The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the implementation of the $500 million Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) programme.

Sanwo-Olu made this known during a public sensitisation event held at Lagos House, Marina, where the state presented its progress in governance, primary health, and basic education under the initiative.

The HOPE programme Is a $500 million facility supported by the World Bank and the Federal Government, and is being implemented across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to improve service delivery.

The governor said the programme is focused on improving the lives of residents, particularly by ensuring access to quality education and affordable healthcare services.

He noted that the initiative is also aimed at promoting transparency in the management of public resources, allowing citizens to understand and track government spending.

Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, adding that the programme is designed to help government plan better, spend wisely, and deliver improved outcomes for the people.

Speaking at the event, World Bank specialist, Akin Onimole, commended Lagos State for its commitment to transparency and effective implementation of the programme.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, said the project aims to strengthen financial and human resource management while improving service delivery in key sectors such as health, education, and governance.
