Shettima lauds ProFuturo-Kukah Centre partnership on digital education

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commended the partnership between the Kukah Centre and the ProFuturo Foundation for advancing digital education in Nigeria, particularly in underserved and vulnerable communities.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, following a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa by a delegation from the Kukah Centre and ProFuturo Foundation led by Bishop Matthew Kukah.

Shettima said the initiative aligns with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the country’s drive to equip young Nigerians with digital and vocational skills.

“The foundation’s initiative for digital education aligns with the nation’s quest for skills education through the National Council on Skills and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The Vice President, who was briefed on the programme’s achievements since its launch in 2017, expressed satisfaction with its impact on school enrolment, teacher training and learning outcomes.

He proposed closer collaboration between the programme’s implementing partners and key institutions, including the National Board for Technical Education (NABTE), the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Federal Ministry of Education and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

Shettima also disclosed plans to present the ProFuturo initiative to the National Economic Council (NEC) as part of efforts to digitise Universal Basic Education Boards across the country.

Earlier, Bishop Matthew Kukah said the delegation visited the Vice President to demonstrate support for the administration’s efforts in digital education.
