Thailand introduces electronic visa application for Nigerians

By Kunle Sanni

Nigerians planning to visit Thailand can now apply for visas online, according to an announcement by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja.

In a statement, the embassy disclosed that the electronic visa application system would commence on January 1. Physical visa applications will no longer be accepted. The policy also applies to citizens of Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Chad.

The embassy emphasized that applicants must be residents of these countries at the time of their application and provide evidence of their residency. Applications that fail to meet this requirement may be canceled.

“Travel booking confirmation, including return flight details showing the applicant’s name, departure, and return dates, must be provided upon submission of the visa application,” the statement read.

The standard processing time for visa applications is five working days, although it may take longer in certain cases.

To ensure timely processing, prospective travelers are advised to submit their visa applications at least 4-6 weeks before their departure date but no more than three months in advance.

All applications must be completed online at www.thaievisa.go.th.

This initiative is expected to streamline the visa process and enhance convenience for travelers from Nigeria and other affected countries.
