Tinubu celebrates Sunday Dare at 60, praises loyalty, service
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Chief Sunday Akin Dare, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a loyal ally, seasoned communications expert, and key contributor to Nigeria’s democratic development.
In a tribute issued on Thursday to mark Dare’s milestone birthday on May 29, 2026, President Tinubu praised the former minister’s dedication, resilience, and professionalism, recalling their years of political collaboration leading to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu said Dare played a significant role during the political consultations and strategic engagements between 2013 and 2014 that culminated in the establishment of the ruling party.
The President noted that Dare demonstrated leadership, innovation, and courage while serving as his Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity during their political engagements.
According to Tinubu, Dare’s contributions and competence later earned him appointments under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, first as Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and subsequently as Minister of Youth and Sports Development.
The President also commended Dare’s performance in the current administration, particularly his role in strengthening media and public communication strategies through his knowledge of digital and new media.
Tinubu further praised the presidential aide for his commitment to community development and national service, noting that his achievements earned him the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) as well as the traditional title of Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland in Oyo State.
“I congratulate Sunday on reaching this milestone age of 60, and particularly on his immense accomplishments at this age,” Tinubu said.
