Tinubu mourns elder cousin, Ade Ekemode

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the death of his elder cousin, Dr. Naheemdeen Ade Ekemode, who passed away at the age of 80.

In an emotional tribute, President Tinubu reflected on their shared childhood memories and highlighted the distinguished career of Dr. Ekemode, a gynaecologist who practised for over five decades.

Dr. Ekemode, who received his medical training in Egypt, also served as the former chairman of the Lagos State Hospitals Management Board, making significant contributions to healthcare in Lagos State.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu remarked:
“Your passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family. The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart.”

The President lauded his cousin’s warmth and generosity, remembering him for his tireless dedication to others:
“I will always cherish your bright smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. As a physician, your compassion and care touched countless lives, and your legacy will endure through the people you healed, comforted, and uplifted.”

Dr. Ekemode’s contributions to the medical field were far-reaching, with President Tinubu noting the lasting impact of his cousin’s professional and personal legacy:
“Though we celebrated your 80th birthday earlier this year with hope for more shared moments, we take solace in the knowledge that you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering.”

Offering his heartfelt condolences to the entire family, President Tinubu added:
“In this time of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with your loved ones. The cherished memories we hold dear and the love you gave to us will provide strength and comfort during these difficult times.”

President Tinubu concluded his tribute with a prayer, asking for eternal peace for Dr. Ekemode:
“You may no longer be with us in body, but your spirit and the bonds we shared will live on in our hearts forever. May Allah grant you eternal rest, and His mercy and peace be with you always.”

Dr. Ade Ekemode will be remembered not only as a skilled physician but as a beloved family member whose legacy of kindness and service continues to inspire those who knew him.
