UPDATE: JAFAK RingoNG Cup winners to get ₦500,000, overseas opportunities

The winners of the fifth edition of the JAFAK RingoNG Cup will receive ₦500,000, while the second and third-place teams will get ₦300,000 and ₦200,000, respectively.

The Chief Legal Executive of the JAFAK RingoNG Cup, Wale Bamigboye, disclosed this during the competition’s draw ceremony in Ilorin.

Bamigboye said the tournament would also provide grassroots players with opportunities for greater exposure, adding that the organisers were exploring a collaboration with Minnesota FC to create pathways for talented players beyond Ilorin.

“The trophy matters, the prize matters. But so does the opportunity to be seen, to grow and to inspire the next generation,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of JAFAK Initiative, Prince Lanre Fakayode, expressed delight at the growth of the competition since its inception in 2019.

Fakayode said the JAFAK Cup was established in honour of his late father, Sir (Prince) Joseph Aranloye Fakayode, to provide Kwara youths with a platform to showcase their football talents.

He added that the tournament had grown into a major grassroots football competition in the state.

In his goodwill message, the Director of Football, ABS FC, High Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, pledged to sponsor an individual award and said his club would adopt at least one outstanding player from this year’s competition. Football enthusiast Alhaji Muyiwa Yusuf also donated ₦100,000 to support the tournament and said his family was considering adopting the JAFAK Cup model in memory of their late father.
