Adegoke picks Salako as running mate for 2027 Oyo governorship election

The African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has picked engineer Aderoju Oladayo Salako as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Adegoke also received his Certificate of Return from the party at its national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, according to a statement issued Friday by his media team.
The certificate, signed by ADC National Chairman, Sen. David Mark, and National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, stated that Adegoke satisfied the requirements of the party’s constitution and emerged as the winner of its 2026 Oyo State governorship primary held May 30.
The statement said Salako, who hails from Saki in Saki West Local Government Area, was born August 3, 1979, and graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, in 2005 with a Bachelor of Technology degree in civil engineering.
It added that Salako was certified and registered as an engineer by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria in 2019 and had been involved in various engineering and infrastructure projects in Oyo State and other parts of the country.
Among the projects attributed to him were the rehabilitation and construction of the Iwo-Ate-Ife Odan Road in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area, the Iresa Adu-Iregba Road in Surulere Local Government Area, and the rehabilitation of maternity and primary health centres in Olorunsogo Local Government Area.
Adegoke said Salako was selected after consultations and consideration of interests across the state’s geopolitical zones, adding that his experience in engineering and infrastructure would contribute to the development of Oyo State.
The statement further said Salako’s name had been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission as Adegoke’s running mate, while INEC has displayed Adegoke’s name as the ADC governorship candidate on its portal amid a separate dispute over the party’s ticket in the state.
