2027: Adebayo pledges 36 modular refineries, N200 petrol if elected president
…challenges Tinubu to a debate on economy
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has pledged to revive four public refineries and establish 36 modular refineries, while creating opportunities for private investors to build refineries and export petroleum products.
Adebayo made the pledge while unveiling his Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity: Governance and Accelerated Development — Blueprint of a New Nigeria, 2027–2031, saying Nigerians deserve accountability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
On fuel prices, Adebayo projected that petrol could fall to about ₦200 per litre, arguing that increased domestic refining and a more productive economy would reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
The SDP candidate also promised to tackle insecurity within four years, stressing that security must be addressed alongside unemployment, poverty, food insecurity, inadequate education and limited economic opportunities.
He argued that Nigeria’s challenges were not caused by a lack of resources or capable citizens, but by the failure to organise and deploy those resources effectively for national development.
Adebayo described the blueprint as a working document designed to stimulate national debate rather than another campaign manifesto, adding “This policy has been given to Nigerians to start a conversation, not to end it. Nigerians and political opponents to scrutinise the proposals and contribute better ideas”.
He called on Nigerians to make the 2027 election a contest over ideas, competence and measurable results rather than ethnicity, personality or political connections. Adebayo warned that without the political power to implement the proposals, the blueprint could become “another piece of paper” that fails to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a public debate, demanding answers on how trillions of naira allocated to security, energy and economic reforms have been spent.

With all these promises he will be struggling to get 100k votes if Nigerians are kind to him out of 50 million votes likely to be cast
