The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday inaugurated its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, setting a target of more than three million votes.

The council’s Director-General, former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the target at the inauguration at the party’s secretariat in Ogba, Ikeja, urging members to work with unity, discipline and commitment.

Obanikoro said the party must improve on its previous electoral performance, noting that “We have 7.5 million registered voters in Lagos. As members of our party, we cannot be voting only one million. We must do three, four million votes to make sure that we galvanise votes for the President”.

He urged members to set aside grievances and differences and work collectively towards achieving the target.

Meanwhile, the party Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi charged council members to ensure coordinated, peaceful and lawful mobilisation across the state, saying the council comprises 20 directorates and 1,235 members assigned to various positions.

In his remarks, the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s achievements since 2023, saying the performance of the Tinubu administration and the Lagos State Government would form the basis of the campaign.

The council is chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Hamzat as Deputy Chairman and Obanikoro as Director-General. Rasaq Ajala and Adekunle Olayinka are the Deputy Director-General and Campaign Secretary, respectively.

The inauguration formally commenced the APC’s campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections in Lagos.
