Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have adopted consensus candidates for the Oyo North Senatorial District, federal constituencies, and some state constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held in Ibadan wherein Governor Seyi Makinde, the state PDP chairman, and other key party leaders from the Oke-Ogun zone were in attendance.
Party sources said the consensus arrangement was introduced to promote unity, minimise internal disagreements, and position the party strongly to retain and expand its influence in the district during the 2027 polls.
For the Oyo North Senatorial District, stakeholders adopted Shina Peller, a businessman from Iseyin who formerly represented Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency.
In the federal constituencies, the party adopted Oyedeji Oyeshina for Iseyin/Iwajowa/Kajola/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency; Abiodun Òní for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency; and Niyi Adebisi for Saki East/Saki West/Atisbo Federal Constituency.
For the state constituencies, the PDP unanimously picked Sanjo Adedoyin for Ogbomoso South State Constituency; Ayinde Sarafadeen Sassay for Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency; Jimoh Adisa Olabisi for Oorelope State Constituency; Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo for Saki West State Constituency; and Bisi Oluranti for Ogbomoso South State Constituency.
The party further disclosed that more updates are expected as consultations continue across other constituencies.
