Ondo politics heats up as PDP, APC clash over Aiyedatiwa’s performance
By Boye Oyeyemi –
The political climate in Ondo State grew tense on Thursday following an assessment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa by the Peoples Democratic Party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Wándé Ajayi, who accused the administration of insecurity, isolation, and weak stakeholder engagement.
Ajayi, in an article titled “Leadership by Inclusion vs Leadership by Insecurity: The Ekiti–Ondo Divide,” compared Aiyedatiwa with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and alleged that the Ondo governor had abandoned inherited projects and excluded major political actors.
He claimed the government was focused on “optics over substance,” insisting the state was being held back by what he described as a “solo approach to governance.”
The All Progressives Congress, however, dismissed the article as a partisan attack lacking factual basis.
APC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, said Ajayi was promoting “theatrical fiction” and argued that the claims were “hollow, misleading, and designed to smear the governor.”
Otaloro maintained that Aiyedatiwa had stabilised the state’s political space and continued work on major legacy projects, including the Akure–Ondo Road, Araromi–Lekki Corridor, Owena Water Scheme, and upgrades at UNIMED Teaching Hospital.
