Technical challenges stall APC membership registration across Oyo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has urged its members and supporters to remain patient as technical challenges continue to affect the ongoing electronic registration of party members across the state. The party assured that the issues were being addressed and would be resolved promptly.
Reports from the 33 local government areas indicate that many party members, including new and long-standing faithful, are yet to have their personal data captured due to the technical hitches.
The situation has triggered calls from some quarters for an extension of the registration deadline.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, explained that the requirement for National Identification Numbers (NIN) and Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) was introduced to ensure accurate and reliable membership records, enhance strategic planning, and align with global best practices.
“We are aware of the glitches affecting the electronic registration exercise, particularly the inability of some willing members to have their data captured, as well as the absence of NINs among certain individuals ready to register. The APC leadership is working round the clock to resolve these challenges ahead of the registration deadline this Saturday,” Sadare said.
He added that requests for an extension of the exercise had already been forwarded to the party’s National Secretariat, noting that a response was expected soon. In the meantime, stakeholders were urged to intensify efforts to ensure a smooth registration process.
Sadare also warned that party members and leaders who fail to register during the exercise would no longer be recognised in party activities, especially as the APC prepares for forthcoming congresses and primaries ahead of the next general elections.
Members experiencing difficulties were advised to contact the party’s State Secretariat at Oke-Ado for immediate assistance.
