Amaechi decries attack on ADC secretariat in Rivers, says ‘evil act will make us stronger’

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has condemned the burning of a secretariat belonging to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident occurred on Friday when unidentified individuals reportedly set fire to the party’s office located in Amaechi’s hometown. The attack destroyed part of the building and caused panic among residents of the community.

The development came hours before Amaechi was expected to officially register as a member of the opposition party at Ward 8 in Ubima.

Residents were said to have discovered the blaze early in the morning, with the fire leaving a section of the secretariat badly damaged.

Reacting to the incident, the former governor described the attack as an act of intimidation and called on security agencies to apprehend those responsible.

Amaechi also urged his supporters and party members to remain calm and avoid retaliation in order to prevent further violence.

“These evil acts of intimidation and violence cannot deter us but will make us stronger and more determined to vote out this government that is rapidly destroying our country, Nigeria,” he said, while also warning supporters against engaging in violence that could lead to loss of lives.

He insisted that the attack would not stop him and his supporters from carrying out political activities in their community.
