City Boy Movement signals future leadership strength — Okpebholo

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said the City Boy Movement represents a strong signal of future leadership strength in Nigeria, describing it as organised, coordinated and driven by purpose.

Okpebholo made the remark on Thursday when he received the leadership of the City Boy Movement at the Government House in Benin City.

The governor used the occasion to emphasise his administration’s commitment to youth-focused political mobilisation and reaffirm his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.

The delegation was led by its Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu, alongside the Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the Director-General of the movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shola.

Welcoming the group, Okpebholo commended their decision to begin their South-South regional tour in Edo State, describing it as recognition of the state’s growing relevance in national political engagement.

“What I see here is a movement that is coordinated, organised, and driven by leadership. That alone gives me confidence that Nigeria’s future is in safe hands,” he said.

He also declared that only those with a deep understanding of urban dynamics can effectively organise and brand a city, stating that “only a city boy can truly build and brand a city.”

The governor further praised President Tinubu for taking what he described as bold and decisive steps, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, and reaffirmed Edo State’s support for the president’s second term while reiterating his commitment to youth empowerment and development.
