President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engineer Musa Kida, has urged Team Nigeria to repay the Federal Government’s support with strong performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which begin on July 23 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Kida said President Bola Tinubu’s administration has shown commitment to sports development through increased support for athletes and federations, and called on Team Nigeria to remain focused, disciplined and determined.

He noted that Nigeria will compete in 10 events, including athletics, boxing, judo, swimming, weightlifting, basketball and wheelchair basketball, and expressed confidence that the athletes have what it takes to win medals.

Kida said every medal would bring honour to the country and inspire young Nigerians, while also praising the National Sports Commission, its Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for supporting the team’s preparation.
