The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to judicial independence, describing him as a strong advocate of the rule of law and institutional reforms.
Ajulo said the governor’s efforts to strengthen the justice sector have earned him recognition among legal practitioners and other stakeholders committed to democratic governance.
Speaking during a discussion with the publisher of Daily Times Nigeria, Fidelis Anosike, the Attorney General said Aiyedatiwa had consistently implemented policies aimed at promoting judicial autonomy, improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare of judicial officers.
He noted that the governor’s recognition by the Nigerian Bar Association, Akure Branch, as an Ambassador of the Rule of Law reflected his administration’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and constitutional governance.
According to Ajulo, the administration has granted greater autonomy to the judiciary, increased the emoluments of magistrates and initiated measures to improve their working conditions.
He added that the government had expanded the number of permanent secretaries in the Ministry of Justice from one to three and recently recruited over 40 lawyers into the state public service to boost service delivery.
Ajulo maintained that a strong and independent judiciary remains critical to economic growth, investor confidence and democratic stability, stressing that reforms in the justice sector should be viewed as long-term investments.
He reaffirmed that his assessment was based on measurable achievements and constitutional principles, insisting that policies that strengthen judicial institutions and improve access to justice ultimately serve the interest of the people.
