Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Algeria and Chad at the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship in Tunisia.
The championship begins on September 15 and will also serve as a qualification tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Nigeria men’s volleyball head coach Ryan Masajedi said the team’s immediate goal was to advance from the group stage.
The coach warned his players not to underestimate any opponent, noting that every team would be determined to make a statement.

Masajedi said the players understood what was at stake and would approach the competition one match at a time.
“The first task before us is to scale through the group stage and then wait for our opponent in the next round. We will not underrate any team in our group because they are equally at the championship to make a statement,” he said.
He also urged Nigerians to believe in the team and pray for its success as the players begin their campaign in Tunisia.
Nigeria finished seventh at the 2021 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship in Rwanda after defeating DR Congo 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-22) in the classification match. The country, however, missed the 2023 edition.
