Oluremi Tinubu extends food outreach to Osun, names Ogun, Akwa Ibom next

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has extended the Renewed Hope Initiative’s food outreach programme to Osun State, making it the 31st state to benefit from the scheme.

The First Lady, represented by the wife of the Vice-President, Nana Shettima, handed over the food items to the wife of the Osun State Governor and state coordinator of the initiative, Titilola Adeleke, for distribution to persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable groups.

Ogun and Akwa Ibom states have been named as the next beneficiaries of the programme.

Launched in March 2024, the food outreach scheme provides nutritional support to vulnerable Nigerians and seeks to improve the welfare of families across the country.

Speaking at the presentation, Mrs Tinubu said the initiative was designed to complement President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by ensuring that vulnerable citizens received support regardless of their circumstances.

She said the programme had been sustained through the monthly donations of two truckloads of food items by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and an anonymous donor, enabling the initiative to support two states each month.

Mrs Tinubu disclosed that the food items distributed in Osun were provided entirely by the anonymous donor.

“I thank both partners for their deep generosity and sustained commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Nigeria,” she said.
