2027: Hamzat will build on Lagos’ gains to tackle challenges – Obanikoro

The PBAT/KOH Campaign Council has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, will leverage his experience in the public and private sectors to consolidate existing gains, address prevailing challenges and deepen development for the benefit of Lagos residents.
The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, made this known on Sunday while addressing journalists ahead of the planned unveiling of Hamzat’s manifesto.
Obanikoro said Hamzat’s private-sector experience, which equipped him with business and management skills, coupled with his years in public service as a three-time commissioner and deputy governor of Lagos State, had given him a broad understanding of governance and business.
He expressed confidence that the combination of these experiences would enable Hamzat to address the state’s challenges and improve the lives of its residents.
Speaking on the candidate’s consultation efforts ahead of the 2027 governorship election, Obanikoro said the campaign council had engaged various groups across the state to gather their views and understand their needs and aspirations.
He listed the groups to include religious leaders and institutions, traditional rulers, market women, traders, young people, professionals, artisans, community leaders and other stakeholders.
“We have engaged people from different backgrounds, communities and walks of life. We understand that Lagos is a diverse state, and its development must reflect the needs and aspirations of all its residents.
“These consultations are important because we believe that leadership must listen before it acts. We want the concerns of ordinary Lagosians to inform our priorities. We want a development agenda that reflects the realities of our people,” he said.
Obanikoro disclosed that Hamzat’s manifesto would be unveiled on October 30, adding that it would be made available to the public for scrutiny and feedback through the appropriate party channels.
