Intimate moment at COWLSO conference as Sanwo-Olu shares kiss with wife

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu surprised his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, with a bouquet of flowers before sharing a kiss with her at the opening ceremony of the 26th National Women’s Conference organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).

The romantic moment occurred on Tuesday during the three-day conference at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing attention from participants as the governor publicly acknowledged his wife’s contributions to women’s welfare.

Presenting the flowers, Sanwo-Olu said, “On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you, we want to honour you.” The couple subsequently shared a kiss as the DJ played 2Baba’s hit song, African Queen.

Beyond the intimate moment, the governor used his address to call on accomplished women in business, public service and other professions to mentor younger women, open doors for them and create opportunities for the next generation.

He said leadership should be measured not only by personal achievements but also by the opportunities created for those coming after them. He also highlighted the need for government policies to address women’s access to finance, healthcare, education, employment and safe environments.

Sanwo-Olu described the conference as particularly significant for him and his wife, noting that it was the final edition during their tenure in government. He commended Ibijoke for her dedication to improving the welfare of women, children and families throughout their years in public service.

In her address, the governor’s wife urged women to move beyond celebrating individual accomplishments by supporting younger women through mentorship and professional opportunities. She stressed that women also needed access to finance, meaningful employment, quality healthcare and education to improve their circumstances.

The conference, themed “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint,” brings together women and leaders to discuss empowerment, leadership and personal development. Ibijoke urged future COWLSO leaders to sustain programmes that improve the lives of women and families, stressing that the organisation’s impact should continue beyond the tenure of its current leadership.
