A 20-year-old man, Sunday Pelumi, has been arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly threatening to kill a woman, Taiwo Sunday, with a cutlass.

Pelumi is facing a two-count charge bordering on threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The prosecution alleged that the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on July 6, 2026, at Ogangan Quarters, Supare-Akoko, where the defendant reportedly threatened the woman with a cutlass.

According to the charge sheet, Pelumi allegedly wielded the weapon while threatening to take the woman’s life, an act the prosecution said was capable of causing a breach of public peace.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, told the court that the alleged offences contravened Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume I, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

However, defence counsel, Wolemiwa Lanre, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kolapo Kolawole granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000.

The court adjourned the case until November 4, 2026, for further proceedings.
