Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has presented the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon 500 to mark his birthday.
Representing the governor at the presentation, Chief Babatunde Tijani explained that the gesture recognised the community leader’s dedication to the growth of Ibadanland and his advocacy for good governance.
He clarified that the high-end vehicle was a purely personal token of appreciation rather than a politically motivated gift, fulfilling a promise Makinde made after missing the main birthday celebrations.
In response, Chief Ajewole expressed deep gratitude to his benefactor, offering continuous prayers for the governor’s success and personal wellbeing.
Reflecting on his tenure, the community leader highlighted the construction of a new palace for the Olubadan of Ibadanland as a landmark achievement driven by a dedicated committee he established.
He recalled approaching the governor regarding the 850 million Naira project, only for Makinde to take full responsibility and deliver a palace that subsequently earned the governor the traditional title of Aare Atunluse of Ibadanland.
While reaffirming his admiration for the administration’s infrastructural contributions, Ajewole emphasised that the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes remains a strictly non-partisan organization focused solely on unity and development.
Prominent state officials, including local government leaders and cabinet commissioners, also attended the event to praise both the governor’s generosity and his ongoing commitment to civil service welfare across Oyo State.
