Opposition criticises Tinubu without offering alternatives, Shettima says

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to reject politicians who abandon challenges rather than confront and resolve them, questioning the opposition’s ability to offer credible alternatives to the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Shettima spoke on Friday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The Vice-President commended the people of Akwa Ibom and the South-South region for their support for the Tinubu administration, urging them not to be misled by politicians who, according to him, run away from difficult situations instead of addressing them.

He also questioned the opposition’s criticism of the Federal Government’s policies, saying political parties should offer viable alternatives rather than merely condemn the administration’s programmes.

Shettima spoke at the rally attended by President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC governors and other party leaders.

At the rally, Tinubu approved the establishment of the Ibom Deep Sea Port following a request by Governor Umo Eno, describing the project as a catalyst for economic development and prosperity in Akwa Ibom and the South-South region.

The President also reaffirmed his approval of international status for the Victor Attah International Airport, which he said would support the state’s development.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigeria Governors Forum and South-South governors, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri commended Tinubu for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, among other projects.
