AFRIMA’s Mike Dada appointed to lead African Collaborations Group advisory board

The founder and President of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Mike Dada, has been appointed vice president of the Advisory Board of the African Collaborations Group (ACG).

The appointment was announced by ACG, a strategic project development platform focused on promoting sports and entertainment industrialisation in Africa through bankable sports and entertainment district projects.

Dada established AFRIMA in 2014 in partnership with the African Union Commission. The awards platform celebrates and promotes African music globally and is broadcast in more than 84 countries.

He also serves as vice president of the African Union’s Pan-African Congress, where he led the development of the AU Plan of Action on Culture and Creative Industries, adopted by African heads of state in 2023. He is also a member of the Africa Policy Advisory Board of the ONE Campaign.

ACG said Dada’s appointment would strengthen its efforts to integrate sports and entertainment development while aligning its projects with continental policies on cultural and creative industries.

The group’s founder and executive chairman, Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, said Dada’s experience in continental cultural leadership, policy development and industry relationships would provide strategic value to its operations. “Mike Dada brings to our Advisory Board a rare combination of continental cultural infrastructure leadership and heads of state-level policy positioning,” he said.

He added that Dada’s presence would support ACG’s efforts to develop financially sustainable sports and entertainment districts across Africa. The group’s advisory board provides guidance on projects involving governments, investors, development finance institutions, sports organisations and infrastructure partners.

ACG said Africa’s sports economy is projected to reach $20bn by 2035, but the continent still lacks integrated infrastructure to support large-scale development. It aims to bridge the gap through mixed-use districts that combine sports, entertainment and commercial activities.
