Adeleke did not attack Tinubu, only sought credible poll, says campaign DG

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Ademola Adeleke attacked President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the governor merely appealed to the President to ensure a free and fair governorship election in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo, the director-general of the council, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, described the allegation as a misinterpretation and distortion of the governor’s remarks.
According to the statement, Adeleke only appealed to President Tinubu, whom it described as “the father of all,” to intervene in the alleged killings, intimidation and repression of residents and members of the Accord Party.
“Adeleke only called the attention of President Tinubu to the ongoing repression and intimidation of Osun residents and urged the president to call the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to order so as to stop a recurrence of the political violence of the past,” the statement read.
The council further alleged that “in 2022, the governor lost 45 of his supporters to APC thugs. The police did not raise a finger to prosecute suspected APC thugs who killed our members during the 2022 elections. APC thugs are daily raiding towns and houses of Accord leaders. The facts are in the public domain”.
It also claimed that the governor referred to the Osun local government crisis, alleging that over ₦350 billion in local government funds had been diverted and used by what it described as illegal APC officials whose purported tenure had expired.
The council added that the allegations made by the Osun APC regarding the state’s finances were unfounded, maintaining that Osun had received several awards for budget transparency and ranked third nationally in auditing responsiveness.
