APC governors unfazed by impeachment moves against Fubara — Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are not alarmed by the impeachment process initiated against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Sule made the remark on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he dismissed suggestions that APC governors were anxious over the political developments in Rivers State.

According to him, impeachment is a constitutional process that cannot be carried out arbitrarily, stressing that due process must be followed.

“I am not worried about anybody impeaching anyone,” Sule said. “You cannot wake up one day and impeach a governor without following the law.”

While acknowledging concern for the welfare of fellow governors, Sule said there was no indication that Fubara’s removal was imminent.

“Of course, when anything happens to any of our colleagues, we are concerned, but not to the extent of concluding that an impeachment will happen,” he added.

The Nasarawa governor said the matter was already before the courts, with judicial actions providing guidance on the next steps.

“From what we can see, the courts are taking decisions and the Chief Judge has taken a position. That is why there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
