BREAKING: Troops rescue abducted wife of late retired General Rabe
Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued Mrs. Rabe Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.), who was abducted by bandits and held in captivity.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced the rescue in a statement issued on Monday, saying the operation followed intensified search-and-rescue efforts by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA.
According to the statement, sustained offensive operations and pressure mounted on the criminal elements forced contact between troops and the bandits at Tunga Village.
The DHQ said the encounter led to the successful recovery of Mrs. Abubakar from her captors.
The statement, signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Samaila Uba, said the rescue was achieved during ongoing military operations targeting criminal elements in the area.
Mrs. Abubakar was abducted alongside her husband, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.), who later died while in captivity.
The military said the rescue followed a coordinated operation by troops aimed at locating and securing the release of the abducted victim.
Further details on the operation were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
