Car stolen in Lagos recovered in Ilorin, as police arrest suspects

The Kwara State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Camry (Registration No. APP 443 CX) reported missing in Lagos.

Acting on intelligence from a motor spare parts dealer in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin, police detectives apprehended two suspects on November 22, 2024, around 6:00 PM.

The suspects, Ganiyu Lawal, 43, of Babasoja, Gambari, Ilorin, and Ademola Waheed, 45, of Sango Road, Ilorin, were intercepted with the vehicle.

During a search of the car, a GSM number linked to the owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel of Badagry Road, Lagos, was discovered. When contacted, Mr. Abel confirmed the car had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos and that he had reported the theft to the Area C Police Command in Surulere, Lagos.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to purchasing the car at an unusually low price of ₦400,000 and intended to resell it in Ilorin for ₦1,000,000.

The police added that Investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, praised the public for their vigilance and encouraged continued cooperation in providing timely intelligence to help maintain security across Kwara State.
